Bali Trip Report

I just spent 7 weeks in Bali (Nov- Dec 2011). I stayed in the Legian – Kuta Beach area for the first 5 weeks, and then I moved up into the hills of Ubud for the last 2 weeks. Overall, Bali is a nice, relaxing vacation destination, but it’s no Thailand
or Philippines!

I feel really lucky with the hotel that I booked, “Legian Village Hotel” (US$35 night), located on Jalan Padma. I never had any issues bringing girls into this hotel and it had a great location, with a 200 – 300 meter walk from
the beach, and a nice-little hang-out scene, with the swimming pool, bar, and restaurant in the center, and in the evenings, there was always a cover band. Also nearby, were other good bars, Legian Pub, and my favorite, Posers Bar. Unlike Thailand
and the Philippines, you’ll see lots of Western women in Bali. There’s not a red-light district or sex scene in Bali, so I’m sure that the Western women aren’t as intimidated in Bali, and of course, I spotted plenty
of the “Eat, Pray, Love- Julia Robert”- types. Also, the combination of not having a drinking age and short, cheap flights, draws-in a lot of young Australians into the Bali scene.

The single best reason to come to Bali is the beaches! Every morning there are clean-up crews picking up the rubbish off the beaches, making them nice and clean for the tourists. Unlike my previous vacations where I’d sleep late into
the day, and be in the bars drinking into the wee hours of the morning, I completely changed my routine in Bali. I’d go walking on the beach every morning during the low tides, and I would visit the gym in the afternoons. I’d work-out
at Hammerhead Fitness in Legian and Ubud Fitness in Ubud. In the afternoons when it was at peak temps, I’d usually kick-back and soak in my hotel pool, or I would rent an umbrella and chair on the beach. The bad thing about lounging on
the beach is that you’re a sitting target for the vendors that will constantly hawk at you. Each day I would also enjoy a Bali massage. A head- to- toe massage that lasted for one hour was only $5. Of all the things I enjoyed from that
trip, I miss the massages the most! Bali is very small island, so there is no reason move-around or change hotel locations in order to visit all of the tourist sites. You can rent a car and driver for $40 a day and hit several temples and other
sites.

I’ll save the best for last… But I’m sad to report that Bali is no sex tourist destination, or nothing comparable to Thailand or the Philippines! I first visited the Bounty Disco and other bars nearby that were previously
mentioned on the internet as freelancer bars, but I saw mostly young Australians and other Western tourists. I found a seedy street scene on Jalan Padma Utara, which was very close to my hotel, but the girls were just average looking and the service
was horrible! The sex was merely mechanical, not a luvy-duvy-type girlfriend experience. There is also a street scene on the beach road at night and Legian street, but it’s hit and miss and fairly difficult to find. The girls mostly ride-around
on their motorbikes and proposition Western men who are out walking. There is the “massage with the happy ending” offered in many of the massage parlors, but that’s only fun once. However, I did find one good place!! It’s
called Angel Salon and it’s easy to find, located directly across the street from Planet Hollywood. All of the girls are from the nearby island of Java and there was a line-up of 12- 15 girls. It cost $40 for a 2 hour session. It would
start with the girl taking a shower with you, she would give you a head-toe-massage, and would end with sex. I went there at least 10 times and I was usually with the same girl each time, but was also with 2 others on separate times. It was always
a great girlfriend- experience, with kissing and no condom BJ. I just simply gave up on the Bali scene and I kept returning to this place! The motorbike taxi drivers in Bali constantly ask you if you’re looking for a woman, but I hate these
guys so much, along with their counterpart trike drivers in PI and tuktuk drivers in Thailand, that I never accepted the offer. There is classified ads listed in Bali nightlife papers and there is a Bali Craigslist, but prices are more than I
wish to spend.

The Bali women are very beautiful but they are difficult to meet. They are more curvy than Thai women, and they have absolutely beautiful breasts!!! On several occasions I met Australian expats in pubs that had Bali wives or girlfriends,
and they offered to introduce their friends to me, but I declined because I know that I will never return to Bali and I didn’t want to waste my time or theirs. I’m afraid that I’m burned on the instant girlfriend experience
that I can effortlessly obtain in either Thailand or the Philippines. Overall, through my own personal experience Bali is fantastic tourist destination, but extremely disappointing on the pay for play scene.

Stickman's thoughts:

I'm a big fan of Bali and I like the fact that there is little in the way of a girly scene there. As far as a variety of attractions and things to do go, I prefer Bali to Phuket.
