My Story (A Young Man Returns to LOS) Part 2

Part 2 "The Angel"

I was walking through Simon Bar complex, and amidst a sea of faces, I locked on to one only for a second. Her skin was lighter than a full Isaan girl, and I could see in her face that she had Chinese blood. She had long dark hair, parted over
her face but covering one eye. She smiled nervously at me and looked away which made me want her even more. I like the shy ones that wait for you to come to them. I knew I had to have her.

I kept walking, I stopped, frozen in a moment of indecision.

You only live once, go for it!

I went back to her bar sat down and ordered a drink. She was on the other side of the bar so I motioned for her to sit down next to me. She spoke very little English. I asked her how old she was, she said 24. Then she asked me, I asked her how
old she thought I was and she said, "You same same me"!

I laughed and told her I was 27. I was so nervous, I didn't know what to say, she was so beautiful, I just stared at her wide eyed, her lips moved…"What your name?"

It was my first time in Thailand, I was walking around Pattaya. I had a sense of wonder and awe that such a place existed and I was trying to act normal and not let the girls see it on my face. I saw her sitting in a chair, right away I could tell she was different, she didn't call out to me like the other girls, I walked by her and I stopped, nervous, she got up and took my hand I resisted, she took the bag of peanuts out of my hand and started feeding them to me, that's when she had me I wasn't going anywhere, she led me by the hand into her bar, we sat down together, I ordered a glass of Jack Daniels straight, she told me her name was Lek and that she was 22, before I could say my name, she looked at my glass of whiskey, pointed to me and said, "You name Jack". That's how I got my nickname…

"What you're name?"

"Jack, my name Jack, you?"

Her name was Fon. She didn't act like a typical bargirl. She was shy and classy, didn't drink, had a grace about her and she didn't belong in Pattaya. On the surface she was timid and meek, but underneath I sensed inner strength.
She was an enigma, dangerous and beautiful at the same time, like an angel from the underworld.

You should tread carefully with this one, Jack.

At this point my eyes kept drifting to pole at the center of the bar where a drunk girl was dancing incredibly sexy. She slid down the pole and landed on her back, then laid her head back and made eye contact. My jaw dropped, then I felt Fon's
small hand on my chin gently turning my head back to her face…

I spent one night with her then in the morning we exchanged numbers. A couple days later I was at the book store in the Central Festival mall in the afternoon when she called me and asked if I wanted to meet her. We hung out in the hotel room,
I played some music and she danced for me. We had good chemistry together and she was really fun to hang out with. She told me she had been working in bars for six months. I confided in her about what happened with Lek and she asked me, "Do you
miss her?"

Of course I miss her I've missed her since the day I left! I wish she was here now. I came across the world to find her, to be with her, to….

"No."

She took my Thai-English dictionary and pointed to the word "seek". I knew what she was asking I told her no and that I was a butterfly now and wasn't looking for someone new. That night Pan called and wanted me so I told Orn to
leave. I slipped her a 1000 baht note, to smooth things over and she didn't protest.
