Inside Spanky’s Pattaya

I made a flying visit to Pattaya this week from Bangkok and after meeting with a friend for dinner, had just a few hours to check out a few gogo bars.

The first stop was Showgirls which I thought was really excellent. Great music, heaps of pretty dancers and unlike most gogo bars in Bangkok, the dancers in Showgirls actually made eye contact and show interest in customers. Of the dancing shifts, those in the buff were obviously doing all they could to get punters to notice them whereas those in bikinis were more attractive, markedly so. While the music was good, having a conversation with a mate was still quite possible without screaming at each other. Excellent bar!

Next stop was Sugar Sugar. Service staff were friendly and again, there were heaps of cuties dancing. It was quite a refreshing change from so many gogo bars in Bangkok where the girls are so often overweight, fat and ugly. I didn’t spot one gogo dancer who was fat – some were bigger than others but none were what you’d call fat. Sugar Sugar wasn’t very busy yet the girls weren’t sulking as they so often do in Bangkok gogo bars when there aren’t many customers out.

The last stop was Spanky’s which recently took on a new manager. The Pattaya Spanky’s branch was a bit of a headache for the owner in the past who found that he needed to be there to keep on top of things and keep it running they way he wanted it run. The last time I was in Pattaya, maybe 6 weeks or so ago, he just took on 5 coyote girls that night. The idea was right but the implementation was wrong, in other words that first batch of coyote dancers weren’t very attractive! Try as he might, the vibe just wasn’t there and I guess that is why he offered a proven Bangkok gogo bar manager a deal he could not turn down, and lured him to Pattaya.

Well, things have turned around and Spanky’s has a real fun crew. The girls seem happy and the bar is free of attitude. The dead wood seems to have gone and Spanky’s Pattaya was like Spanky’s in Bangkok – a heap of fun. I got there at 10:30 PM and had planned to have an early night and be back at the hotel by midnight. In the end I didn’t leave until 2:00 AM, a real late night for me – and a reflection of how much I enjoyed myself.

All three of the bars I checked out – Showgirls, Sugar Sugar and Spanky’s were great and it’s a shame that none of them are in Bangkok! From what little I saw of the gogo bars in Pattaya, at this point in time they I’d have to say they are better than what we currently have in Bangkok. More than anything it’s an attitude thing…the girls in the Pattaya bars I visited just seem to have less attitude.
